Brooks Resources Corporation has named its
mixed-use development in Prineville "Iron Horse" to
reflect the community's cowboy roots and pay homage to it's city
owned railroad the company announced 12/7/05.
The new 2,951-unit mixed-use development is
slated for a 1,020-acre spot northeast of downtown Prineville and
will be developed in the next 15-20 years.
Once built, Iron Horse will be Prineville's
largest subdivision. The mixed-use development is Brooks
Resources' first foray into the Prineville area.
Brooks Resources' initial development plan calls
for a maximum of 2,951 housing units, 12 to 14 acres for shops and
businesses, 311 acres of open space, a 17 to 20 acre school site
and a 2 acre site for a civic center, according to the land use
application. Trails and 1-acre parks are also in the plans.
Builders would create subdivisions based on
Brooks Resources' development standards.
The City gave the developer preliminary approval
in August, but placed conditions on the development plant to p
reserve open space and create buffers.
